Our story starts on May 13, 2021, the day of my 18-week check-up. Nothing was out of the ordinary. I went to the appointment alone, as dictated by COVID protocols. During this appointment and after a few minutes of trying, the doctor was having difficulty finding a heartbeat. I was transferred to the ultrasound room, and in that moment, it had not occurred to me of what was to become my reality. Moments later, after continued efforts to find a heartbeat, the ultrasound tech shook her head, and just like that, I was forever changed.
We checked in to the hospital three days later, and after a complicated delivery, Christopher was born on May 18th. He was so small, yet so incredibly loved. With already experiencing child birth with our oldest son, Harrison, we knew what the hospital room should have been. It should have been chaotic, filled with laughter and baby cries, trying to nurse and just soaking it all in.
Instead, the room was quiet.
No laughter, no joy.
We went home with empty arms and broken hearts.
But through our pain, deep love for our baby boy, and our desire to help others who would walk a similar path, Christopher’s Corner was dreamt up and our love for Christopher reflected in every detail.
Christopher’s Corner is a “library” dedicated to bereaved families. Each book has been lovingly chosen and given to families as an opportunity to read to their angel baby, create a special memory, and leave with a keepsake.
Hoping to help ease the pain one family at a time.
